Week 173: Lemon meringue tart

I admit I am rather predictable when it comes to tarts. Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought I’d fill those gorgeous tart shells with something different. But here they are again, with my favourite lemon curd and cream cheese mousse.

Except, these are no regular lemons. These are made from the legendary Sicilian lemons. I thought it was overrated, but boy, was I wrong. With one swipe of the zester, the fragrant from the lemon zest convinced me these are nothing like the lemons I normally used. In fact, the taste is so intense, I almost couldn’t recognise it!

Having tasted these, I don’t know how I can ever go back to regular lemons. On the bright side, I found out Marks and Spencer’s lemon curd are made from real Sicilian lemons, giving them that lemony fragrance unlike any other.
